The seed of Summer Snowflake started in India while I was teaching Product Design in Mumbai. My husband asked me to marry him on the banks of the Ganges River. Of course I said yes but I did not want to leave India, the country and the people I love so much. I decided I would bring a piece of India home with me, the handicrafts. I was very inspired by the Women's NGOs that utilized handicraft to empower villages and families in poor rural areas. In July 2007, I opened the boutique and a bed & breakfast, Labyrinth b+b, in rural upstate Michigan. This area, Leelanau County is also rich in local women's handicraft and natural resources. I have always wanted to create a businesses that empower others as well as incorperate sustainable design principles and creative endeavors. As an artist, designer & educator I am thrilled to have a boutique that I can not only highlight far away foreign ancient crafts but also my own designs and other women that I admire. Thank you for taking your precious time to peruse my handpicked treasures.
